About Us
Astro began with a simple idea: create products that we’d want to use ourselves, and do it with the highest care for design, function and attention to details. What started in 2022 with a small 3D printer and artisan keycaps has grown into something much bigger—a team dedicated to building tools that feel essential.
We’re deeply passionate about the keyboard space. To us, keyboards aren’t just accessories—they’re daily tools, creative instruments, and an extension of how people work, play, and express themselves. That’s why every product we make is designed with purpose, stripped of unnecessary complexity.
Simple 75 is the first step in this journey. It represents everything we believe in: thoughtful design, accessible innovation, and a commitment to the community that has supported us from the very beginning.
And we’re only getting started. Astro exists to bring new ideas and meaningful products into the keyboard world—one design at a time.

2022 · The Beginning
January 2022 is where it all started. After a few months in the keyboard hobby, we bought our first machine—a resin 3D printer, the Elegoo Mars 2 Pro. A humble option, but perfect for learning how to design and make artisan keycaps. What started as a weekend hobby soon grew into Astro’s first workshop.

It took us about a month to release our first design and open our Etsy store. After nearly 100 design revisions, countless print optimizations, and hours of hand-painting practice, our first keycaps went live.
From the very beginning, our standard was clear: quality first. Even with something as small as a keycap, we wanted every detail to feel right.
Thanks to a successful Etsy launch and the incredible support of the Reddit keyboard community, our growth accelerated—and so did our ability to create and develop new products.

2023 · Prototyping & Iterations
In 2023, curiosity pushed us toward something bigger: creating our own keyboard. After a year of experience with 3D printing, we assumed it would be a straightforward leap. It wasn’t.
We had to start from the ground up—learning Fusion 360, CAD modeling, print tolerances, manufacturing methods, and building a small team of people with the skills to help bring the project to life.
Each prototype revealed new insights: case alignment issues, switch plate tolerances, and how even small changes in foam layers affected the sound and feel. When our personal printers reached their limits, we turned to professional services and later invested in faster in-house equipment to keep iteration moving quickly.
By mid-2023, we had our first fully working keyboard. It was never meant to be sold, but it proved something important: we could actually build it.
Mid-2023 · The birth of Simple 75

By mid-2023, the idea for Simple 75 began to take shape. After trying countless boards, none truly struck the balance we were looking for—something functional, well-designed, and simple enough to enjoy every day without unnecessary complexity.
That’s when the first concept of Simple 75 was born. Using Fusion 360, early 3D models started as rough shapes and gradually evolved into working prototypes. Each iteration refined the vision: a 75% keyboard with a clean design, gasket mount, and a programmable volume wheel.
The wheel in particular became a defining feature. Adding not just rotation but also a press function required a custom PCB and additional engineering. It wasn’t easy to implement in a full aluminum case, but the result was worth the effort.
The name “Simple 75” captured the entire vision:
Just a keyboard designed to feel right.

2025 - Present · Simple 75
By 2025, after countless prototypes and revisions, Simple 75 was no longer just a concept—it was a finished product. The design, the engineering, and the details had all come together into something we were proud to share. Building the website became just as important as building the keyboard itself.

From the start, the goal was to showcase every feature clearly, so that anyone—from a first-time buyer to an experienced builder—could understand exactly what Simple 75 offers. Every section was designed to reflect the same philosophy as the keyboard: clarity, function, and ease of use.
The final product embodies everything we set out to achieve:
75% Layout
Programmable Volume Wheel with Button
Hot-Swap & Hybrid PCB Options
Quick Stabilizer Swap
Gasket Mount
Full Foam Kit
Force Break Mod
6 Plate Options
Single Screw Drive Assembly
Included Gateron Stabilizers
Simple 75 is released as a barebone kit, giving each person the freedom to choose switches and keycaps that fit their style.
Starting at $249, it’s designed not just as another keyboard, but as a tool that feels essential.
This project began as an experiment and grew into something much larger—a collaborative journey shaped by our team, our community, and the passion of everyone who followed along. Now, with the Origin Edition, Simple 75 is ready for its place in the world.
